hard drive not finding
installed new motherboard but system is not picking up motherboard
-
What exactly is happening? Does the BIOS POST? Is the hard drive detected in the BIOS?
On a new motherboard you have to reinstall XP.
-
Hi i'm not too knowledgeable tested everthing else on my pc was working ok so motherboard was my last shot.
xp formatted on old pc
I dont hear hard drive working
system starts fans going
ok i do have stupid question in another area
this new motherboard which is gigabyte ga-7n400 doesnt have monitor connection
i'm thinking do i need video card
-
Yes you need a Graphics Card:
ga-7n400
http://www.giga-byte.com/Products/Mo...ProductID=1672
1 x AGP slot (8x/4x-AGP 3.0 compliant), supports 1.5v display card only
-
ok that's good i'll just buy cheap video card
still need to know y my hard drive isnt making sounds
-
I would recheck the connections if you think that it is not working.
You really don't want your hard drive making sounds.
As long as it is spinning. A good new hard drive should be pretty silent.
When you get a graphics card you will be able to see if the drive is detected by the BIOS.
And again you will need to re-install XP onto this motherboard.

thanks make sense to me . i know i can't seee whats happening but u can always hear hard drive if u listen doing whatever it does.
-
Installed gigabyte ga - 7n400 motherboard put in video card nothing comes up on monitor when i power up
-
What is the make and model of the card?
Are you sure that it is compatible with the motherboard?
When you say nothing comes up? Not even a No Signal message?
Does the monitor LED go to green?
What exactly is happening?
