    Motherboard Help!!!!!!

I am in a real bind...I was taking my sisters computer apart to see what kind of cards she had in it and if i could "borrow" one. So when I took the AGP graphics card out and looked at it I didnt want it. I put it back in and turned the comp on. Sparks flew and now the computer turns on but sends nothing to the moniter and the internal fan on the motherboard doesnt work. Please someone help me and tell me if the motherboard is fried or what happened!!!!!!!!

    Hello Mateao,

Are you giving us the full facts here.

You sound a young man, I assume the older sister and your the younger brother, is this wrong?

After borrowing the AGP card and had you liked it, what were you going to leave her?

Having said all of that, there is nothing I know that would cause such a situation by simply re-fitting a graphics card, so what else did you do?

Whatever the facts or circumstances some serious damage has been caused to your sisters PC.

What you do and answer next is very important.

But first thing, if you haven't already, unplug the damaged PC, presumably your one is still working otherwise you wouldn't be able to write to this forum.

Was your sister using her PC for her studies, did it have her work on it?

    Follow up from previous post:

Dont panic if it had any important work/files on it, these can be backed up quite simply.

    Just thaught id mention it

    Your right Mike,

but I'm trying to avoid Mateao from removing his sisters HD and doing just that for obvious reasons, at least for the moment.

    Hello Mateao,

Have you hooked up your sisters moniter to you PC to make sure that's still working.

At the very least you have fried the graphic card, maybe the MB, posibly the CPU, ram may have had it.

You could try installing another graphic card, I think it'll not make any diffrence

Hopefully hard drive is ok, that can be transplanted, slaved and data backed up, you can test ram the same way.

It sounds like a rebuild including a new PSU

I've had PCs go bang and yes even smoke but not due to refitting a graphic card.

What's the make and model of MB and existing graphic card, do you know?

no, i was just stating a fact that it is better to know whatr your doing than to cause further problems.

my computer wouldnt boot for about a week when i added a new HD once, even when i removed it..... i managed to fix it in the end but i needed to do a clean install and i lost all my data.

Rofl, this is gonna be expensive for you, I think that something has fried too, but without any information provided from you there is impossible to say anything.
I think if there isnt any preformance problem on your pc that you have fried your sister's graphic card.
