Buying Dell Inspiron 6400 . Is it a good choice ?
Just as the topic suggests i have finally decided that i am getting the dell inspiron 6400. Now before i really do order it i would like to verify with you people as you guys/gals have been very very helpful in my previous one month research and postings on this forum. I am hoping to get a lot of response on this post as well. Here is a link to the laptop i am getting
http://configure.dell.com/dellstore/...SP6402_FEAT_E2
I will use a coupon to get $100 off or mayb talk to dell customer service directly to get a better price, what do you guys think ? Also i would like to know is the following.
1)Is this laptop a good bang for the buck? I mean i am spending over $1300 i just want to make sure i am getting what i want. Here are requirements once again, please let me know if i have made a good choice or a bad one.
"In a nutshell i will be using my laptop to watch movies, listen to music, planning on playing high graphics/quality previous, current and future games, run appz like photoshop, frontpage, burn dvds and cds at high fast/speed without leeching all of my system ram and cpu usage, want to connect my laptop to my tv to watch movies (with good quality/speed) from my notebook"
2) I would like to know from people who have used or using this laptop as to whats their opinion about this product and for how much did they get their machine for ?
3)I would like to know if there is a way to get a little more discount on the laptop if possible.
4) It uses "256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory" is this an integrated card ? And is this good enouph card for playing moderate games?
Thx in advance i really appreciate your help

I don't know the machine but there are some reviews in this search:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...al+Core+review
This is perhaps the most comprehensive:
http://www.notebookreview.com/defaul...r+for+Business
The Inspiron e1505 is Dells 15.4" widescreen notebook featuring the impressive new Intel Core Duo CPU. A virtually identical Inspiron 6400 is available through their business site.
The graphics are integrated.

Hey "jephree" thx for the links, although i had already read reviews and such on this laptop i just needed someone to back me up on my decision that i had made a good choice. Did you actually visited the dells link i procided in my first post ? Like i said before it says " It uses "256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory" and the review on notebookreview for E1505 configuration says "Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950" so i am guessing the E1505 is integrated and the current 6400 isn't. What ya say ?

Hello Vxdesigns,
I had a look at it for you,
As always with Dell they inically represent good value for money and this model is no exception to that rule.
Because by their nature laptops are diffcult to upgrade anyway Dell laptops are a good choice.
So to answer your questions,
Excellent bang for bucks for what you get it's a good choice.
For what you wish to use it for there's no where near enough memory, upgrade to 2gb, if you do any thing do this.
Graphics---OK----for now.
HD no where near big enough, go for the largest you can afford and Dell can install.
Discount, yes, wait untill Vista hits your shores by third quater, any machines that has XP on will be discounted further, you can try that on with salesman now, tell him your dead keen now but the new Vista OS is dampning your eagerness although a free upgrade in
memory and a bigger HD would do it,--- if you don't ask you don't get.
Best of luck

Hello VXdesigns,
Yes I have, just ask.
I'm not a huge Dell fan but 14 months ago I purchased 47 of them + five laptops, so quantity + mega discount.
I don't like Dell PC from an upgrading point of view because they're all most imposible to do so but I was fullfilling orders for seven companies so not my choice but their lap tops are a diffrent story.
As I mentioned laptops are difficult to upgrade regardless of make so Dells represent good value for money.
As I said your choice of laptop is good both from a reliable brand and value but you can't beat a Toshiba or Apple.
Upgrade your memory you won't regret it but upgrade your HD first.
