DVD-RW not working!
Hey guys,
I recently built a new PC for the inlaws - bad idea
- and the DVD recorder wont work. Its a Lite-On.
I also installed a CD-R and that works fine, but the DVD drive wont read disks properly (if it does, it takes a few minutes to finish reading and open a windows explorer window).
Tried different jumper settings etc, tried the burner in my own PC and it worked first time...
So I have no idea, cos its obviously not a faulty burner if it worked in my PC...
Any ideas would be fantastic - unrest is brewing in the household..
Thanks guys

I assume you installed DVD software?
Is this XP? If so a good quick test is to uninstall via the Device Manager then reboot.
XP will reinstall the drivers then. But you need DVD software to use DVD's.
Sorry if I've stated the obvious

Cheers for the reply
It is in XP... by DVD software, i'm assuming you mean a DVD movie playing program?
I have tried playing in windows media player and also using the movie player that came with the burner, no joy.
It wont even load a music or data CD.

Did you try uninstalling the drive?
Are you running SP2?
