Power Grid on, off, on, off, on, What now?
The power grid has problems and shuts off then on then off and on again and again and leaves my computer in a state of disaray. What can I do now to correct the problems this has caused with open end files, programs that won't work etc.? XP Pro had to be reinstalled numerous times in able to even use the computer. There are still all these problems after that.
i.e. Slowed down computer, there is no sound, my PDA's & Phones do not sinc or are not recognized, Outlook is screwed up, and I cannot get it to send or recieve mail anymore. I'll list other problems/programs as we get something solved. Can anyone help with this?
Configuration

CPU: AMD 64 Athlon 3500+
Video: Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT (only one)

First, install an Uninterruptable power supply or UPS to help with the power grid. When the UPS detects a power failure, it can safely shutdown your computer.
Once you have have this taken care of, then the rest can be fixed easily.

Hello Provide,
APHjn is quite right no wonder your system is screwed if grid failures are a regular thing in you neck of the woods so buy yourself uninterruptable power supply, you won't regret it and it will save you a lot of future hassle
Next get your self a surge protecter, and plug your PC and othe componants into that.
Buy yourself an external USB back up hard drive and use it.
There are people on this forum much better able to advise then I, personaly, if you have your pro CDs do a clean install, first backing up all your data and programes, including e-mails.
Hopefully you haven't toasted your hard drive or anything else for that matter.
That's what I would do.
