Someone gave me a notebook compac posario. When I turn it on I can hear it running and you can see it coming up on the screen very faintly but not enough to make out much other than it is windows 98. For the most part it is a dark screen. Too dark to make out anything. Can someone help?

Description
During the startup or boot process of the Notebook, the display is very dim and barely readable. It remains dim when it reaches the Windows desktop.

Solution
Perform the following steps to determine if the dim display is due to a hardware failure:


Power down the notebook PC by pressing and holding the Power button for 5 seconds.
Press the Power button again to start the computer.

If the display is still dim, the backlight is damaged. Please Contact HP to schedule a repair.
