Critical BSOD errors!

    Exclamation Re: Critical BSOD errors!

    I'm sorry, I still don't understand. I haven't had a BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER BSOD...yet.

However, I did find some drivers that looked peculiar through pstat.

On one of the lists, there is a driver that has no module name, meaning there's a blank spot where all the other drivers list their names. It is Code 0, Data 0, and Paged 0 and has no link date. But it does have a load address, F77A6000
    dump_atapi.sys - AAC7C000 and dump_WMILIB - F7DA5000 also are Code 0, Data 0, and Paged 0 and have no link date.

This also might show as f790 8609
Sorry, I think I understand what you meant.

I couldn't find that address on the pstat list, the closest matches were ntdll.dll - F7900000 and i8240prt.sys - F7903000

Computer's been on for desktop for about 5 hours without running any programs except for A/V updating and Internet Explorer occasionally. Looks like it really is the graphics card so I'll try to get one ASAP.

Also, don't know if it's important or not, but recently when I turn on the computer, the processor fan makes a VERY loud whirring noise but then goes back to normal just before the desktop loads up. Strange.

Everest has a temp and fan monitor (if your board supports it) under Computer > Sensor

You might want to clean and perhaps lubricate that fan. (remove it from the board if you want to lubricate it)

Well I didn't get a single BSOD yesterday, I didn't really do anything with the computer.

So all signs point to video card?

Hmm, that guy Simpson said his problem was solved after a reflash of his BIOS. Could it work for me or is mine purely a hardware issue, namely video card?

This is the one I'm looking to buy:

Also, my friend thinks it could be a DirectX problem. I also updated my DirectX to the February redist. But please let it be the video card, I beg thee computer gods!

Ok, computer is just falling apart. 3 BSODs in 2 minutes, a new record perhaps?

I decided to play a little Doom 3. Played for no longer than half an hour before I got a BSOD. The basic info was:

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    STOP 0x000000D1

    0x86DFD1D8, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xF6878A2F

    portcls.sys - Address F6878A2F base at F6875000, DateStamp 41107f13

I pressed the restart button and it took just 3 seconds for another BSOD. This one had no information except for:

    STOP 0x0000007E

    0xC0000005, 0x804DBE91, 0xF7C86CCC, 0xF7c869C8

Then as I came here to type, MicrosoftAntiSpyware notified me of an update. Just as it finished downloading the updates, again BSOD:

    STOP 0x0000008E

    0xC0000005, 0xBF80F943, 0xA805E3B0, 0x00000000

    win32k.sys - Address BF80F943 base at BF800000, DateStamp 43446a58.

You can just tell me my computer is done for. Next monday is garbage pick-up and this box of cancer will be out in the curb.

I also had to reinstall my sound card drivers because I lost sound in my left rear speaker, but that was before I ran Doom 3.

Those BSODs appear similar to your initial ones. i.e. same problem.

I am not an expert reader of dumps but have been trying to learn. The person I learned the most from (joe hobart) doesn't appear to post on forums anymore. He posted here maybe a year ago.

Here are some links to another forum where he used to post with an issue somewhat similar to yours:

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread...oto=nextoldest

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showpost.p...12&postcount=7

I have worked a little bit with Verifier:

Type verifier in Start - Run and follow the wizard. This will make
all drivers slower but error messages should contain the driver's name
and all drivers get checked as they work. The error code may change as
    Windows is strict with drivers.

Also your original dumps were not reporting modules.

Did you use this debug Wiz (written by joe hobart actually):

    1) Download and install the
    Debugging Tools from Microsoft
    2) Download and install this
    debugwiz
    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.
    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.

Sorry I cannot be more specific but I am willing to keep looking
