HI got a toshiba satalite a40 laptop and wipe the harddrive and now it say's insert sytem disc. I have the recovery cds and windows xp but it wont boot even though it is set to boot from the cd, i don't no what to do as i have done this loads of times on my pc's over the years without any problems.Can you help please

When you say that you have done this loads of times... Did you ever do this on this laptop?

I cannot find any specifics from Toshiba Re: reinstall the Operating System. There is this Hotkey that is supposed to boot the CD:

From the Boot Device Hotkeys (temporary setting)

Immediately after pressing the power-on button, press the hotkey for the device from which you wish to boot:

Hotkey Boots from device
C = IDE CD-ROM1

yes i have don it on my old laptop with no problems. aready done what you said but nothing happens.the only thing that will boot is my micro 2000 cd.
