In reality don't know if this is a hardware issue or i got a virus orworm or what happened, but this is what i noticed before death. A few days ago went to play some music and noticed that the songs I had brought from MSN were deleted but the rest of my music that were ripped from CD's were fine and nothing else seemed wrong. Didn't really have time to look into it to deeply as i had to go to bed and did not get to it the next day, today went to turn it on and got a message that said copying bios from hard drive but it just sat there and did nothing,no hard drive activity or anything so I tried to restart it and now it will not do anything except the fans power on and the lights come on but no hard drive start up or anything. The only thing that i can figure is that i was downloading from Kazaa light but did not finish any down loads(I have dail up) I have X.P. sp2, nortons antivirus, and always keep up on the updates so idon't know what to do now.
Just to verify: at this point you get nothing on the screen? No BIOS?
What happens when you boot your XP CD?
No bios screen no nothing and had it boot directly to hard drive so it would boot faster but will never do that again because now theres no way to change it back. but what Ive done so far is disconect everything except CPU and video card (no onboard video) and still get nothing
have you tried clearing the CMOS by removing the battery?
do you get any beeps?
tried using jumper to clear cmos no beeps
have you downloaded a new BIOS for the machine?
today went to turn it on and got a message that said copying bios from hard drive
try removing the battery and all power connection to the motherboard from the PSU, and leaving it for a while
Have not updated bios am going to try disconnect now.
THanks for advice will check back in a couple of hours.
well took out battery disconected power supply let it sit for 3 hrs still nothing
well does anyone have an idea what might of happened. Could a virus or worm destroy a mother board or is it my power supply gone bad. really dont want to spend money tring to figure this out and buy the wrong things
It doesn't sound to good![]()
If you've half copied the BIOS then the only way is to replace the chip and that's not realy practical, I think your mobo may have bit the dust
