I tried turning on my Dell computer this morning and found that it will not start up. Well, once its powered on, I immediately get a beeping noise and the light on the 2nd dvd burner drive blinks, then it all stops. The computer seems to be on, but nothing appears on the monitor and the monitor is working properly. I had no previous error messages or viruses, so what could problem be????

Hello Simmy,
First things first,
With out powering on take a look at the back of your PC, where the power cord is pluged in the back,-----keep watching---now boot up PC, does the fan on the PSU work and does it keep going, give it 30secs or so.

Yes, the fan is running. I can tell the computer is actually on due to the normal humming sound, but no display on monitor. Monitor light stays orange as if the pc is not on and all connections connected properly.

Beep Codes
Your computer might emit a series of beeps during start-up if the monitor cannot display errors or problems. This series of beeps, called a beep code, identifies a problem. One possible beep code (code 1-3-1) consists of one beep, a burst of three beeps, and then one beep. This beep code tells you that the computer encountered a memory problem.
Reseating the memory modules may fix the beep code errors in the following table. If the problem persists, see "Contacting Dell" in your Owner's Manual for instructions on obtaining technical assistance.
Code
Cause
1-3-1 through 2-4-4
Memory not being properly identified or used
4-3-1
Memory failure above address 0FFFFh

Hey thank you all for all of your help. Guess what, this morning my computer started right up with no problems...go figure. Must have been a temporary problem that fixed itself thank God!
