I recently blew up my girlfriends old windows 98 system, and cannot retrieve anything thing from the hard drive. All i get when i put the hard drive into another system is Hard drive failure. Is there anything i could do to read the drive without spending hard earned cash??

Is the hard drive detected by the computer? You just cannot access it?

What is the make of the drive? You will find most brands have a diagnostic utility and some have fix options if it is fixable.

Do you know the manufacturer of your hard drive?
