Hi there, I have been buillding and upgrading my own computers for about 10 years, but am now stumped by a problem and would be grateful for your help.

I built a PC for my son last year usinga PC Chips M811LU mobo, Athlon XP2400, 512MB PC2100 RAM (2 x 256) and a Hercules 3D Prophet AGP card, using XP as the OS.

The PC worked fine until one day when he turned it on, the fans worked but he got the "No Signal Input" message on the monitor with no POST. I assumed that it was the AGP card that had failed, and swapped it with a working one from another PC to no avail. I then assumed that it was a mobo failure, and replaced the board with a new PC Chips M848A. I rebuilt the PC in a case with a with a working power supply and a working monitor, using the same components, but the system remains in the same state - fans working, "No Signal Input" and no beeps or POST. I have also noticed that all 3 lights on the keyboard stay on.

I can only assume that either the CPU or memory has failed. I tried with a Duron 1800 - no change, and took each of the DIMMs out in turn - no change.

So, I am stumped, and would be grateful for any help that anyone can give.

do you get any beeps if you try starting with just the CPU and heatsink?

I have tried the mobo with just the power, switch connections, IDE and floppy connections and with only the CPU and heatsink fitted. No beeps, and have tried it with the speaker connections reversed as well, just in case.

Problem found - put CPU into a working system and had the same fault, so processer U/S.
