Ram causing freezing?
Hi,
I've been experiencing freezing problems on my cpu for the past couple of weeks. It happens at any time and just completely locks up the system. I believe the problem is something to do with the RAM and/or temperatures in the cpu however I'm not much of an expert so don't really know!
I've just upgraded my RAM to 256MB (however it only says that it has 448MB in system in control panel). Since upgrading the RAM the freezing has become less frequent but still happens, does anyone have any ideas as to why? I've pasted my hardware info below.
Thanks in advance

Your RAM count is 512 - 64 = 448
The 64 is being used by your on-board video chip.
Could be that the original stick of RAM was going bad. You can try this RAM test: http://www.memtest86.com/
As to heat you can try running with the case open. Check all the fans. Clean any dust.
Also you do not even have SP1 let alone SP2.
You should go to Windows Update and get SP1 for now. In case you have a virus you do not want to load SP2 until you are clean.
If you have been on-line without SP1 then a virus would not be a surprise. Have you scanned?
