Hi all just fitted a new mobo (asus A8n-vm Csm S939 ) And an AMD OPTERON 146 (SOCKET 939)

When i boot up there is no post or vga, cpu fan is spinning. all power plugs inserted in mobo,
If i take out ram then i get post beeps so post is working for ram, but when inserted in board with cpu no post at all this mobo has on board graphics.
Built a few new pc's never had this prob. its my firsts 939 socket so no parts to swap over, tried to find out if its a compatibility prob been told this board should run this cpu!
but having no luck with a defanate answer if its not a compatibility problem can anyone suggest what it might be apart from cpu or mobo dead hope you can help.

The CPU is working, otherwise you wouldnt get the beep code.

Hi thanks for the reply the ram is 1024 DDR 400 from ebuyer.
with all parts fitted it will not post, only thing i can take out and get a post is the ram so its detecting no ram but after that its a mystery. Bad decision to buy new parts that i can not swap to eliminate one or the other we live and learn, any imput would be gratefully received
