Have you tried removing and reinstalling the scanner?

    Thanks for your reply.

No, I wouldn't know how to re-install everything.

If you or someone else would like to explain how to install it all I would be happy to have a go.

I must remind you that all I have is the scanner, cables, and a driver downloaded from Canon.

I wouldn't know where to put the drivers either.

I would much apreciate your help.

    ATB, Gary.

open Device Manager; click Start, and then click Control Panel. Double-click System. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

see if you can find your scanner in the list it may be in the "universal serial bus controllers" section, if you find it, rt. click and click properties go to the driver tab and click update driver and follow the on-screen set-up

    hope this helps,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for your reply. I found no signe of the scanner in Device manager.

I have:- "ALL PROGRAMES"- "CANON CANOCRAFT CS-P"
    - "CANON CANOCRAFT CS-P COPY"
    - "CANON CANOCRAFT CS-P README"
    - "CANON CANOCRAFT CS-PUNINSTALL"
I was just about to say where the driver is, then noticed the "setup.exe" file, so I thought I would open it and see what hapens.

I will let you know what happens.

See you soon, (after the Gand prix).
    Gary.

OK, I'm thick, as you all know the setup.exe gives me all that stuff in the "ALL PROGRAMS" list.

What I don't understand is the fact that I have used the scanner in the past, but now all I get is "NO SCANNER DETECTED" and "CHECK IF SCANNER IS CONNECTED PROPERLY".

Any more ideas. All help is very much appreciated.

    ATB. Gary.

could be the usb lead, that it the problem my nan had, we tried a new lead and it worked.... or it could be something to do with a windows update.
The leads are usualy the standard printer ones (USB A-B)

    hope this helps,
    Mike

    Hi All.

    Sorry for the delay.

Well done brain_damage. I got up the courage to have a go at uninstalling and re-installing once I realised what the drivers did.

    Everything works fine now.

I would like to thank you both for your thoughts and ideas.

    Thank you very much.

    ATB, Gary.
