Need to Partition my C drive

Need to use F.A.S.T to transfer my files and settings to a new machine. Gary Woodruff's marvelous "how to" document, suggests storing the file created by F.A.S.T. on another partition of the machine (old) that is creating it. Here's the problem: I never partitioned my C Drive when installing it, and now I need to partition it after the fact so I can do this task.

How do I now partition my C drive? which is a 60GB drive with less than 9GB in use?

Thank you very much for your help.

    Jake,

For this task, only about 1GB, but I think I'd go ahead and create a "B" Drive of at least 10GB. I just don't know the procedure involved in Partitioning a HD.

If you want to partition the drive non-destructively, you will need a third-party partitioning tool.

Do you have a CD-RW or DVD-RW in this machine? And the software loaded to run it?

Just a link to your other thread for reference:

Gary Woodruff also suggests sending the .dat file to a different hard drive.

I mention this as the software will cost as much as an inexpensive hard drive

Unless you have plans for future partitioning.

There is this free partitioning tool that takes a bit of work and patience but as said is free:

Yes! As a matter of fact I discovered Partition Magic already hiding on my HD and have successfully used it to create my needed partition. Thanks to all who responded. I really do appreciate your efforts to help.
