Do I need a new dvd re-writer to write to dvd-ram discs.

My computer is about 15 months old and my dvd rewriter is labelled DVD R/RW

There are 3 DVD writeable formats:

DVD-r/rw
DVD+r/rw
DVD-Ram

If you wish to write to a DVD-Ram disk, you need a drive capable of that format. Most, but not all, currently manufactured DVD+/-/R/RWs will READ DVD-Ram, but not all will write to that format. If you have the exact model of DVD Re-writer you have we can look that up.

It says

LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-8325.
