sorry to be a pain, but my sister has a similar problem, she cam copy CD-R's but not RW's... i tried to install InCD 4 on her laptop and it said something about the roxio UDF is installed, please un-install it to continue... this means that a UDF driver is on the system doesnt it? will it just need re-installing? shes convinced its the drive its self but i said its not its a driver/software problem.... she doesnt like installing things on her laptop because its breaking and it has important things on.

    Thanks again, Mike

InCD and Roxio UDF are not compatible, however if you are trying to have CD-RWs made with InCD read by her machine with Roxio UDF, they will not work (unless Roxio or Nero fixed their compatibility issues within the last year or so!)

If she has Roxio burning software, it should have installed correctly at that time. If she needs your Nero written disks, then remove the Roxio software with a legit copy of Nero for hers and install the InCD drivers.

so, those 2 udf drivers will not allow the pc/laptop to read CD-RW's?
I didnt install nero, ONLY the USF driver (InCD 4) is this legal?

would un-installing roxio and installing InCD work?
BTW, she has to exit roxio drag-to-disk before she can copy onto CD-R using Windows Explorer (not sure about anything else)

It sounds like she would be better off without roxio!! lol

Thanks again for the help and replies,
    Mike

Her Roxio installation may be corrupt. I have Roxio for my software on my Game system and the Drag-to-disc works perfectly. I can burn CD-Rs and RWs with it no problem. Attempting to install InCD without purchasing it for that computer is Illegal, but since it didnt complete you didnt finish the install and you are ok. I would have her, if she wanted to, try to reinstall the Roxio or purchase nero and remove the Roxio completely.

Personally, I prefer Nero, my other systems all use Nero (My Server, "Office" setup, and my Daughters play system)

ok, thanks, i prefer nero to roxio aswell. i find it easier to use and it looks better.

I'll ask her if she wants to re-install roxio to fix the problem.

    Thanks, Mike
