    kvm switch problem

I am currently using a kvm switch to operate 2 towers (Win ME and XP sp2) thru 1 mouse keyboard and monitor. It works a treat on my pc's. However i tried to set my dad up with the same and it wont work on one of his towers (Win ME). We both have the same switch and the same os's but different pc's.
Have swapped switches to rule out faulty switch

Could it be that his motherboard doesnt support kvm switches?
Should i look for a bios upgrade?

    Thanks for any advice
    Dave

How bizarre. As far as the PC is aware, it's just plugged into a normal monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Have you tried switching the cables round? If the working PC stops working, then you'll know that it's the cables that are faulty. If the switch has moulded cables built in, try putting the other set into the PC that isn't working properly.

Are you expecting the KVM switch to auto-detect both PCs or have you tried using the Hotkey to manually force the switch to .....erm ...... switch?!

Thanks for the reply DJN, im conducting a long term test. ie ive swpped switches and will see how it goes. obviously if i have problems at home then the switch is faulty.
