    Unhappy Sony Laptop

I have a Sony Laptop PCG FX805 age, just more than 3 years. The power meter indicates the battery is fully charged but when I boot up under battery power, only, the laptop switches off with a very loud "ping" shortly after XP (home) starts. Any ideas, suggestions please as I can only use it with mains power.

    Hi and welcome to D-A-L

I think your battery may have gone if all works OK on mains power

I bought a new battery last year, because that what I thought was the problem, sadly not

sounds like a problem with the power switching device, it may not be detecting what it should be doing(batteries/mains/both and charging).

how you repair this I don't know, if under warrenty just get it fixed if not then is it technically broke ? you have to decide what the value is in getting it fixed.

not sure if the power panel etc comes into it but you could try Fdisk and start again and see if they problem is still about.
