Audio Connectors?

    Question Audio Connectors?

Hey guys, I have a P5P800 SE Asus motherboard and an A-Top XBlade AT859A-BK-LCD Black/Silver Steel ATX Mid Tower computer case. This question involves the frontside connector for my mic. I could figure out my sound pins no sweat, I just can't figure out how to configure the other pins involving my mic since my motherboard's manual uses different names for the pins than my case. In the manual it shows that I can connect a MIC2, MICPWR, Line out_R, NC, Line out_L, AGND, +5VA, BLINE_OUT_R, and BLINE_OUT_L. Now out of these I know for sure that I don't have to worry about Line out_R, Line out_L, and BLINE_OUT_R, BLINE_OUT_L, and AGND because they all involve my sound output and I got that working, and AGND is my ground.

So all I have left to worry about is MIC2, MICPWR, NC, and +5VA. I have 2 open plugs yet from the frontside audio panel and they are MIC VCC and MIC DATA. I have tried many different combinations with these two plugs and those four pins and I have come out unsuccessful every time.

My main question: Where do I have to plug MIC VCC and MIC DATA in?

    Thanks for the help,
    Matt

Actually, I've investigated your post (mobo & case) and there's not much info to be had. The case site is useless, and all I've gleaned for the mobo is what you've already procurred. I would think that the case vendor would supply a "Recommended Motherboard" scenario for compatability with their "front panel sound interface", but it was not evident (that I could find).

It seems that communication between yourself and these two product support areas may be your only recourse. Schematics may help if you can get them from either of the two vendors.

Even though you didn't find anything useful, I truly appreciate the help and effort. I just tried a bunch of different pin combos without plugging in MIC VCC because I read in another post that MIC VCC is some sort of ground for your mic, and still no success... Thanks for the help though.

Just looking at your post, it looks like the case does not support powered Mic. operations and the sound requires powered mic. connections.

Mic2 and Micpwr are obvious, however its the +5va that leads me to the powered connection idea.

Some microphones require a 5v bias to get the signal out of the line noise, others do not. Most computer microphones are not powered because they are not "serious" recording microphones. Your MB looks to be an Audiophile's dream come true in that regards.

I am downloading the manual and will get back with you.

Did you try connecting your Mic Data to Mic2 and Mic VCC to Agnd?

Sorry it took me so long to reply to my own thread. I was away, then I had a whole bunch of work to get caught up on. I will try that configuration this Tuesday, I might be able to get time tomorrow though, and I will let you know if anything decides to function. Thanks.
