    Video Cards..hardware conflict

I am in the process of upgrading my son's computer and installed a better video card so he can run some new games like Star Wars Battlefront. The card I installed is a VisionTek Xtasy 9200SE and the OS is Windows 2000. My problem is probably with the video card on the motherboard, but I don't know how to resolve it. I have installed the new card and drivers, but get "no signal" when I plug the monitor into it. How do I turn off the old sound card and turn on the new on? Thanks in advance for your help.

Most motherboards will auto detect a graphics card.

You could plug the monitor back on the board's VGA port and check the BIOS.

Also make sure the card is compatible with the board. Although this card appears to be compatible on all boards:

    System Requirements
    • Intel® Pentium® 4/III/II/Celeron™, AMD® Duron/Athlon®/Athlon XP® or compatible with AGP 2X (3.3v), 4X (1.5V), 8X (0.8v) or Universal AGP 3.0 bus configuration (2X/4X/8X)
    • Windows‚ 98, ME, 2000, XP
    • 128MB of system memory
    • Installation software requires CD-ROM drive
    • DVD playback requires DVD drive
    • 250 Watt power supply or greater recommended

Is the PSU adequate? 250 Watt minimum.

I will try that but I don't know how to look into BIOS. When I do check BIOS, will I be able to turn the motherboard video card off and and turn the new video card on?

The BIOS Setup depends on the computer or motherboard. Do you know the make and model of the computer or motherboard?

    Here are some examples:

There should be a setting there for VGA or AGP
