PC won't recognise new DVD burner
Hi I have installed a new DVD burner onto my system (PC) today - the computer won't recognise it. How do I get it to do this?

Hi Amusos, welcome to D-A-L 
In order to see the new drive in Windows, your BIOS needs to know that it's there. The most likely cause of the problem is that the IDE port (e.g. Secondary Master or Primary Slave) is switched off in the BIOS, rather than being set to 'Auto' to detect any new drives automatically.
Alternatively, it could be a conflict with the jumper settings on the new drive. For example, if the jumper is in the 'Master' position and you've put it onto an IDE cable alongside your main hard disk, which will already be the 'Master' on that cable, then you'll run into a conflict and one or both won't be detected properly.
