    Problem When Starting Computer.

    Hi Guys,

I have a problem with my computer when i start it up. it only shows what type of a motherboard i have (Screen) and thats it. it doesn't do anything, and it won't let me into the BIOS System either. Could it be because of a Bad CPU?

    thanks

    Welcome to D-A-L

Could be a lot of things. CPU would not be my first guess but maybe. What is the history here? Is this a new setup? Old? Has it worked? etc.

Any beeps? It just freezes on the mobo screen? What board is it?

    The more details the merrier

i had this computer for almost a 1 1/2 year and it old setup, nothing new. i just got a another monitor, which is an apple display. but i don't think that is an issue or is it? for the motherboard its Intel. if your asking for the model number, than i will have to give you that later cause i'm not at home at the moment as i'm typing this. and also i do here a single beep but it very very low. you can barely hear it.

A single beep is normal. Are you saying that pressing F2 won't open the BIOS Settings? Nothing happens?

Do you have a disk for the motherboard? If not you can find it online as well as a BIOS upgrade (if necessary).

Just find your exact model # here:

Also, Check for a jumper to allow you to enter bios, some intel boards came with a hardware lockout feature to prevent end-users from just getting into bios (I have a couple of this old MBs)

By Default, Intel displays a picture, so if its halting on a SMART or other HW failure, you wont see it until in BIOS you disable that type of start (Sometimes described as Fastboot and Sometimes as Quickboot)
