Won monitor- line of non-responsive pixels

I won a TFT monitor on ebay. It might have been a stupid thing to win, but I hope I can make it work. It was described as having a line of non-responsive pixels from top to bottom on the left hand side of the screen. The seller said this is usually due to having a poor connection and shouldn't be hard to fix. How would I fix this?
The item also comes without a power supply. Would I need a specific power supply for it? I am currently looking at 12V power supplies as these seem to be very general. Would getting a new power supply possible be the solution to the non-responsive pixels? Thanks for the help.

    hi there

heres some reading a bout possible dead pixel fixes you can fond it here

it would be handy to know the make and model of the monito

you should get a power lead suitable for that model and it will depend on where you are in the world as well

dead pixels do not mean a bad connection and they are not always repairable you may be lucky

also why a 12v power lead

    hope this helps

Thanks for the help so far. The video thing didn't want to play when I downloaded it. The model of the monitor is a Hansol 520F 15" TFT LCD Flat Panel Monitor Screen (as described by seller). I assumed a 12V power unit because this is what the seller recommended and it seems to be the most common type on ebay. I'm in the UK, so voltage through the mains is about 240V I think. Thanks for helping me out.
