I have a problem with my PC.

Specs

AMD XP 2000+ TBRED (factory unlocked multiplier)

ASUS A7N8X-X Mobo

Maxtor 80Gb HD

Radeon 9600xt 256mb

1gb dual channel ram

450watt PSU

Win XP pro OS


I was sorting out my music n' stuff on my Pc until it completely froze. So.... I restarted.
After i restarted the monitor went onto standby and reamain on stanby forever!
I think the computer is booting up but cant see due to no visual on screen lol.

Any suggestions on Why? and How to fix this problem. PC unusable .

What type of monitor is it?

crappy £300 Goodmans 17" Monitor. but iv tested the monitor and it checks out ok on another PC

are you getting any beeps from the PC?

I get constant beeps

what are the beeps? different beeps mean different problems

Alright, i thought about this. Maybe something is wrong with your motherboard. you said it works on another computer, so it might be that your motherboard is defective. But, do you have an ON-BOARD video card, PCI video card, or a AGP video card. It really won't matter, but you should look into that.

Try your video card in another machine, see what happens.

Pretaining to the beeps, if you still have your mobo's user manual (Asus is one of the most helpful manufacturers in my own opinion) Look for a section about "POST errors".

You could also try another monitor on your PC.
