I have a new HP Pavilion d4100y running XP Home Edition. It is equipped with Logitech X-230 speakers and a Soundblaster Audigy 4 sound card. I cannot receive any sound from the speakers although they are correctly connected. I have contacted HP about the problem but they are convinced that the speakers are merely conected incorrectly and offered no other solution. The only sound I can produce is after disabling onboard audio (Realtek) in the system bios and listening through Logitech USB 350 headset plugged into the front panel audio port. Device Manager does not detect any driver or resource conflicts. I have tried moving the sound card to a different PCI slot on the motherboard without any better results. Creative suggested uninstalling the Soundblaster software and doing a reinstall (which I tried) but I still get no speaker sound. What do you suggest?
