Hi,

I have recently installed an old firewire card in my computer.
When I put it in and switched on, the computer detected it fine, and installed the necessary driveers. It comes up in my Device Manager.

However, when I plug my camcorder into it and turn it on, the computer does not detect the camcorder as it should.

I do not believe it to be the cable, becase a) it says 'DV IN' on the camcorder display when both ends of the cable are plugged in, and b) I tried another one, to no avail!

I have three ports on the firewire card and have tried them all.

Any ideas? This is pretty urgent, so if you could reply ASAP, I would be very grateful!

What brand camera? Sony?

On my sony there is no pop-up window that says the device is attatched.

I have to plug in the cable
Turn on the Camera
Fire up DV capture software
Choose Device

It only works if I do it in that order.
