i recently formatted my drive and now have no sound im running window xp, in device manager i have the section 'other devices' with a big yellow question mark and under that multimedia audio controller with a big yellow question mark and also a circle with a black exclamation mark in it (which i think means there is a conflict there) also pci modem with the big yellow question mark and circle with the black exclamation mark too. when i right click for properties it says 'the drivers for this device are no installed {code 28} but i cant seem to intall them, in location for my multimedia controller is says PCI Slot 4 (PCI bus 0, device 15, function 0)
not that it means anything to me lol
for the pci modem is says for location PCI bus 0, device 2, function 6
i know i have a creative 5.1 soundcard
when i go to sound and audio devices it says no audio device
can anyone help me?

It's a possibilty that the two cards (sound/modem) may have jumpers on them for setting such things as IRQ, Port, etc. Check this.

Also sometimes switching the slot it's in can make a difference as some PCI slots are Master and some not. This ~may~ make a difference to XP, however I don't know XP enough yet so.......
