Any assistance would be appreciated.

I am running a Sony VAIO with XP Media Center. I have 7 usb ports; 4 in the rear and three in front. A couple of days ago I went to backup my treo through a usb connection, a regular activity, and it froze the system. I rebooted to find that my usb mouse, printer, etc are not working. The device manager has 5 usb controllers listed, all show as working, (4 of the controllers are listed as Intel (R) 8280 1EB with the following id's 24D2,24D4,24D7, 24DE and the fifth usb controller is listed as a "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Controller" and is also showing as working. All five usb root hubs are shown as working properly.

I am stumped as to why this happened and what I can do to fix it. I am using the latest BIOS according to Sony and have tried to unistall and install (in safe mode) the usb controllers without any success.

Thank you in advance,
