HD no longer recognised in windows
Hi guys & gals
Ok Im in a bit of trouble me thinks. I use a Maxtor 160GB HD (SATA) as my "documents" and have done so for a year or two. My main drive (C
is a Maxtor 80GB also a SATA. Now each time I have ever either change MB or I flatten C: I have simply rebuilt and then plug in my 160 and changed path of "my docs" and off i go again.........however
This weekend i decided to do the following. I uninstalled my perfectly working Norton Systemworks 05 (why do we do that!!) and installed NOD32 antivirus and also Sygate Personel Firewall. After a day of not really liking it, i removed it as it wasnt up to much good having to trying to find right settings to suit msn and funny things started to happen like msn not signing in and couldnt transfer files with out comepletley turning it off.
So I uninstalled them both and put on a trail version of norton systemworks 2006 (which auto installs "Goback") having still the same problems, I had enough and decided to format my 80GB and put fresh OS on, 80gb has OS on it and working fine, now my 160GB drive is recognised in BIOS but not in windows. However in Admin tools> Computer management its there as a healthy (active) but the file system is blank unlike other 80gb drive says NTFS and there is no drive path. my pc is XP home and below is hijack file followed by hardware spec too. I have got about 25 gig of music and heaps of others pics and programs over the last 5 years (yes i know, should of backed up).
PLEASE can any one recommend anything. I have tried moving from master to slave. One thing that is puzzling though.. If i just leave the 160 in the board on its own and just boot up, it flashes briefly the "norton GOBACK 06" screen then freezes and error message. How can I get into drive and delete is it boot sector??? will that sort it maybe. thanks for looking. I know its long but i wanted you to know what i did. I have also run spybot search and destroy but nothing.
