Re: nVidia GeForce FX 5200 problem

It happens after the XP loading screen(about when the welcome screen we show up) and the only way Into the computer after that Is safe mode; I have to uninstall or disable the driver completely to get in normally. And I've googled the problem already and tried random things I've found; I've always tried updated drivers and such, including the link you gave me earlier.

Wish I could offer more than an opinion but I guess that's all that I am left with:

Considering your previous errors I would ask Dell to replace the Graphics Card.

Or at least get this one to work.

    A warranty is a warranty.

I had this same problem some weeks back. Not sure how it happened, but it appears that my display driver got corrupted somehow.

You need to update/replace the display driver. Drivers are available at www.nvidia.com.

By the way, updating the driver was not fun. First off, you have to start the machine in safe mode to even see the display. Furthermore, the driver has a nasty habit of re-installing itself (the bad/corrupt one) as soon as it is uninstalled. Finally, the driver itself had some installation problems; kept telling me that I had the wrong hardware (which I most definitely did not) - just try several times.

Have fun. By the by, even with the upgrade I am having some problems (which is how I came across your problem). Can't seem to get around an error/lockup with "Medal of Honor - Allied Assult".

I came back to say, after I finally got my diagnostics test to work, I ran the graphics test mode, and told Dell the error I got from It. Finally, after 3 weeks, they finally told me I was right, the video card was bad and needed to be replaced. They sent me a card, and sure enough, everything Is fine now.
