    SYNCMASTER 151s problems

I have just bought this monitor second hand. Until today is was working perfectly well. Today when I turned the computer on I started to get interference and the screen strarted to flicker at first. Then the picture became garbled and at one point I was left with a blank white screen. The picture is now back but it looks as though I have only 256 colours and there is a blue cloumn running down the desktop. I have checked device manager and it says the device is working properly. Can anyone help?

    Thanks

Do you have another monitor you can try?

Just to determine if the problem is the monitor or the graphics card.

Are the symptoms always the same after every reboot?

Are there settings buttons on the monitor? Perhaps an AUTO reset?

    Hi

Thanks for your reply. I have my CRT monitor which I am using at the moment and the computer is working fine with it. When you plug the LCD one directly into the mains ony the little "no signal" box appears. According to the manual that means it's working properly but you still have the two vertical blue bars running down the full length of the screen.

Are there no Reset or Auto buttons on the monitor?

Also try a different cable to the LCD.

Also check your Display Settings. In XP via the Control Panel | Display | Settings (try changing the resolution & color settings)
    (also under) | Advanced |
Try the Monitor tab for the refresh rate & also perhaps the Troubleshooting tab.

I have tried all of the things you mentioned except a different cable but at the moment I only have the one signal cable as my CRT has a different fitting I cannot use that. However the two blue bars remain whether or not the monitor is attached to the computer.

    Thanks again

Have you installed the specific monitor drivers for your Samsung Syncmaster or are you relying on Windows' generic Plug And Play Monitor driver?
