Overclocking and NIC's!
Specs:
Intel P4 2.40A Prescott
Intel 865PE Northbridge (old I know but I had it before and it's reliable)
Standard ICH5 Southbridge
1GB DDR stock RAM (PC3200)
nVidia Geforce FX5200 128MB DDR RAM
Western Digital S/ATA HDD 7200RPM
LG DVDRW 16X
D-Link 10/100 NIC
Ok, that's the technical stuff out the way!
Now although I do have a fair bit of knowledge on Building PC's and using them, I've only recently got into overclocking. So far I have the CPU up to 2.97Ghz and everything is stable. No over volting. The temp is around 45 degree's and the RAM dosen't feel too hot either. the only thing that's feeling like too much heat is the GPU which feels hot at default settings. I have the FSB up to 165Mhz and it won't go any higher. I want to break the 3 Ghz barrier so firstly I'd like to know if there's any way it can be done? Second question is do these temps sound right? My third question is why is there so much heat in my Graphics card when I hear that this card is very overclockable? Sorry to add one more, but on a different issue, When I added my Ethernet card, the comp started hanging during startup (as it's loading all the programs into the systray). I know some other people with network cards that have the same problem. Why is this and is there a fix?
Any help on these issues will really be appreciated.
Cheers!
