Just bought a used 19 inch NEC CRT monitor, when I got it home I turned it on and it made an excessisely loud buzzing noise, also when I manually choose the degauss option it will make the same noise. If I degauss numerous times without much time between each degaussing the noise stops, if I wait a couple minutes before I degauss it will make the loud buzzing noise. The buzz sounds like the same frequency as I usually hear from the degaussing coil on most computers although it's just WAY louder. Other than the loud buzz the monitor works perfect.

My question is wether I should try to get my money back or is this not a real problem?

Any help is much appreciated.

I'd ask the question at the place you bought it. Maybe manually degauss monitors there if they have any set up and see if its as loud.
