memory loss....
Hey there greetings from Jamaica.
I have an old asus ps2 p2b motherboard and when i install my 128 sdram(or even a 64mb) it shows exactly half of the memory i installed. ofr the 128 it shows 64mb only in the system info of windows and when the memory check is being done during the boot up, it shows only 64 too.
However, whenI put these same memory in another computer, AMD 945Mhz, the memory shows up ok. Why is that so? I cant get much info on this motherboard, as i said old. nnot in a hurry to buy a new one either as I only check emails (and (try to)fix computers...surprisingly)
what can you recommend....?

Apparently, the ASUS P2B motherboard only supports Serial Presence Detect (SPD) DIMMs. To be honest, I've never heard of SPD DIMMs before. As the board uses a 100MHz front side bus (Intel's popular BX440 chipset), it is designed to work with PC100 SDRAM. In theory, PC133 SDRAM modules should "clock down" to 100MHz instead of 133MHz for compatibility with your board but there could possibly be a conflict if that's what you're using.
Are you inserting the SDRAM into slot 1? This is the memory slot nearest to the processor.
Here's a link to the motherboard's manual online: http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...b(pcb1.02).pdf
You might also want to check for a BIOS update:

Hope that helps
