Hi slightly new to all this
not long formatted my laptop but since ive did it my monitor is real jerky and most importantly i seem to have lost my sound card lol
grafs cant i dont seem to be able to install drivers for it
GeForce FX Go 5200 32M/64M
ive installed all drivers i can find
lappy is a tohiba tecra m2

Just a thought. Did you get a recovery CD, possibly with other software included (as well as Windows itself)?
If so, or even if it's a completely clean install from a Windows CD, did you leave the CD in the drive while it "found" your hardware and installed the drivers for it? In my experience you do need to unless it tells you otherwise. Some discs will eject and say the process is finished, in which case it almost certainly is, but some don't.
To sum up, try reinstalling again, and this time leave the CD in the drive when you boot up afterwards.

thks just realised im missing files from xp as my disc was damaged
will try a` reinstall with better disc

Still have the same problems, tried another format but still cant seem to find onboard sound card or the graf card,drivers toolkit tels me i have GeForce FX Go 5200 32M/64M but cant install driver for it (not sure i have right one)
this is what toolkit found that is classed as unknown

only really bothered with sound and grafs
anyone have a clue as to what my next step could be ??

If windows is working (somewhat), download, install, and run Everest Home Edition. It's clean freeware, and will tell you pretty well everything about your hardware and O/S without opening the case. The PCI / AGP display info will tell you what card/chip you have to assist in searching for proper drivers. Same with the sound card/chip (Multi-Media) devices.
