    Jittery pointer.

    Hi all.

    I'm not sure if I should be here.

    I have recently started a game called Black & White. When I'm playing my hand/pointer is very juddery or jittery. Would this be a lack of memory? Would it help if I deleted files from my hard drive?

    This is the result of my D-A-L scan:-

    does it move normaly when not playing a game? if so, it COULD be lack of RAM memmory or CPU speed.

    also, is your mouse optical or has it got a ball?

    Hi Mike, again.

    The mouse, being an old fashioned type that is pluged into the back of the PC, works fine except in the game.

    Again, thanks for your help.

    try going to video settings in the game and reduce picture quality, this may speed things up a little, also, what are the minimum & recomended specs for the game?

    System requirements are:-

    Pentium II 350MHz
    Windows 98/Me/XP (Home Edition);

    4x CD-ROM Drive (Min);

    64Mb RAM (Min);

    8Mb DirectX 7.0a compatible 3D graphics card (Min);

    DirectX 7.0a compatible sound card;

    Mouse & keyboard; 600Mb hard drive space (Min); Optional: Multiplayer 2-8 players, TCP/IP or modem support;

    Is this what you need.

    Gary.

    hi again,
    that should work fine.
    You may want to try a spyware scan (if you havnt already) you can download ad-aware by lavasoft by clicking the link in my signature (Ad-aware SE), do a scan, delete all spyware and then try, if this doesnt work then at least you've cleared up your computer a bit

    Hey Gary, what KIND of jittery are we talking about here?

    Is it a matter of the actual video motion being jittery? Or the mouse input is jittery?

    Also, do you have a mouse that has a red light at the bottom (optical) or a ball at the bottom (roll mouse)?

    it is a trackball mouse (i presume):
    The mouse, being an old fashioned type that is pluged into the back of the PC, works fine except in the game.
    the optical mice arnt realy that old

    So that sounds to me like a RAM/processor issue...

    The input device is fine, the machine itself is having a hard time rendering everything...

    Hi Mike,

    Done spyaware, reduced graphic resolution on game, deleted stuff from hard drive. Still got the jitters.

    Sorry Newbie, my mouse has balls,(well one actually).

    I believe the consensus is the memory.

    Thank you both for all your help.

    ATB, Gary.

    P.S. Mike, when I initiated the system restore to get rid of the password box, it nobbled the game, so I had to reload it. This is not a complaint, just letting you know. Thank you again for your help.- Gary.
