    Digital camera issues...

I have this kick-ass camera. And it was working on my computer for like 2 weeks. Id just jam the usb cable from the camera to the computer, and then it would work with the microsoft scanner and camera wizard. Then, today this decides to happen.

"The computer cannont detect the scanner or camera.

Please make sure the device is turned on and is properly connected to the computer"

And, both of those things have been done.

And I'm pretty much spyware adware and virus free, I just scanned with all the necessary tools. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Just a thought but are you using the same USB slot you were using before?

Hmm I have found an alternative. I can jam my memory card directly into the computer tower itself (it's one of those hp media computers) But the annoying thing is the file names. If I could just figure out a way to rename files in a batch.... That or just use folders.... I really wish my usb wire would work. The ****ing thing taunts me, it makes the windows "ding dong" sound that says hey, you just plugged something in, allright!

then tells me nothig's there. Buncha pricks!

    Found this freeware: BulkFileRenamer

    http://www.nonags.com/nonags/fileren.html

    Other software here $:

Are you sure the camera end connection is OK?

Is the camera detected by My Computer & or the Device Manager?

Are we talking about XP? What is the make & model of the camera as well as the computer?

Any new software & or changes between the time things were working & now?

Well I have windows xp. The confusing thing is two days ago the device manager would pick it up. And now nothing. I tried on my Other computer (also xp) and the computer picked it up. Thus it can't be the camera, or the wire. And my camera is a "Konica Minolta dimage" camera. the problem *seems* to be that it just plain won't read the data. I don't have any firewalls running when I try to do so, in fact theres almost no difference between the other computer and this one. In fact, the other computer actually HAS spyware and virus problems, where as this is a new computer, and is completly free of all viruses...

I am ****ing confused! Well lets see what you make of it...

    Haven't really found anything new

Saw one suggestion of using a powered USB hub.

Have you tried a System Restore to a date prior to this problem?
