Hello friends,
I have recently moved and need to get hooked up to the internet I have experience with BT's service so will most likely go with them (unless someone can change my mind?????!!!) the only issue I have with bt is the adsl modem supplied with the service which made my computer bluescreen, lockup, not disconnect etc. I originally thought it was some other piece of hardware on my setup but since moving none of these problems occur. The first question then is whats the best ADSL modem I can buy? PCI or USB? I have up to £60 to spend and wish to share my connection with other computers in future. Secondly does anyone know if BT will give me a discount for not having the modem included?
Thanks for your time and hopefully a lot of usefull answers and information!
Can you get cable??
I've not any experience with BT but I think most ISP's give you a modem now
I'll check up about cable but I have moved from inner city to fairly rural. Top speed I could get with broadband is 1 meg.Originally Posted by brain_damage
BT do send out a modem but the BT Voyager 100/105 (I've tried both) doesn't get on with my computer and there doesn't seem to be any fix for it (firmware upgrades etc.) If I use a different, supported modem will that run better or offer me any new connection features?
I read somewhere that internal PCI ADSL modems could transfer a little faster? Is this true?
Does anyone use this?

Is it any good?
If I used an internal modem would that allow me to connect multiple computers like this USB one does?
