I have a AJP 8640 laptop, when i ask the laptop to do mulitple commands, work the hard drive and cd-rom at the same time for instance, the laptop will whir loudly for a few minutes and then the whole laptop will just cut off. A total system shut down, without me doing anything.

This means i can not play any games, transfer files to my iPod or any such activity that requires the laptop to ask a lot of itself.

I have the laptop plugged into the mains so doubt it is the battery. Was wondering if the fan was not working properly and meaning the laptop gets too hot? Can i get a new fan?

Any help much appreciated

It could be RAM or hard drive.

has this just started to happen ?
