Whooowhat?
Is it possible that my Comp likes to break cd/dvd drives. Alright, bout a month ago my dvd burner stopped reading anything. The device was said to be working properly by XP. I hooked it up to my old Comp and got nodda. So, I tore out my cd burner from my old comp and put it in the new one to replace the broken drive. Didn't use it much, but I tried using it one time and if freaked on me. It started spinnin' like crazy and when I opened the drive the cd in there almost shot out of the comp it was spinnin' so fast. Hence, that drive went down the crapper and he don't work no more. So anyway, is it possible that my comp is breakin these things. The DVD burner I had was only like 1/2 year old and I didn't use it that much.

If the system is indeed damaging components, if anything, I would suspect the power supply. The O/S and motherboard don't have the capability of damaging components. (On their own that is. If you've applied an incorrect firmware version to the drive(s), that's another story.)

Well the thing is, for the first 5 months I had the 1st drive, It worked just fine. Then, all of a sudden I blew through 2 drives. But, I've had a DVD drive hooked up @ slave and it's worked fine the whole time. I never changed any firmware that I know of. I'm just very confused and I don't want to get another and blow that one too.

Were these two blown drives connected to the same power connector (leg/branch/group) off of the power supply?
There's inexpensive (though simple) power supply testers available. Or, if you have a calibrated digital multi meter you can do some of your own checks on the P.S. output(s).
