    No signal to monitor

My pc is stuck on constantly unless I remove power cable but once plugged back in it still runs, orange light on front flashes but no beeps and monitor reads no signal. I have read other threads on this and think it may be my graphics/video card (same thing aren't they?) Anyway the problem is I have an emachines tower only 2 years old but I think the graphics card is built into the motherboard. Can anyone confirm this and if so is it a problem, will I have to replace the whole motherboard, or could the problem be elsewhere? Thanks

    T-2200?

If so the graphics is built-in unless you upgraded. The monitor port should be towards the edge of the tower rather than towards the center.

S3 ProSavage8™ integrated (1 AGP slot available for upgrade)

    The User Guide:

    http://downloads.emachines.com/ug/de..._Nexgen2_3.pdf

Shows you how to open the machine if you are comfortable doing that. (Make sure that you are grounded).

What I would try is to disconnect everything but the RAM & CPU; clear the CMOS & see how that goes.

So if my computer has a built in graphics card can I upgrade without conflict. Also on a computer with removable graphics card with the same problem how can you check if it's the card without replacing it, is there an onboard connection also.

yes you can upgrade with out a conflict but i think u have to turn onboard video off in the bios. and with a computer with a remobale grahpics card you hAve 2 try anthoer gaphics card.

Sorry I missed your post. As nofear911 mentioned you can upgrade to an AGP card.
If you do so you will then disable your onboard chip. Either in the BIOS or the Device Manager or both.

Most older boards have an onboard chip & VGA port. Most new boards do not. If you are troubleshooting a machine without onboard VGA you need a card.
