Anyone know how to swap hard drives in a Sony Vaio PCG-R505EL?

I could use help with technical details. My original hard drive (30 G) became corrupted and is not salvagable. I would like to replace it with a new hard drive (60 or 80 G) but cannot find any specs on how to go about doing it. Thanks for any help.

    This from Sony:

Can the notebook hard drive be upgraded or replaced

The hard drive in the notebook computer is not user removable and therefore upgrades are not supported.

    NOTES:

Although third-party upgrades may be available for some models, they are not supported.
If the hard drive needs service, repair should be done by an authorized Sony service center.
External hard drives may be attached if the appropriate connections are available.

Umm, no. That's not saying you can't remove and replace the drive. That is just saying they will not support you if you decide to change the hard drive both in the instructions to do so, nor the warranty issues that come from doing so.

It uses a standard 2.5 inch laptop hard drive and can be replaced. Keep in mind that going with a larger one may not be supported by the bios and you may find that you need to use a drive overlay program to fully support the larger sized drive. Usually the manufacturer will include this necessary software with the new drive.
