New Motherboard, CPU and Memory = no boot
Hi,
My GF is a simms fan and had a AGP Gforce card, finally saved up and wanted a new machine.
I have put in a K8M800-M2 motherboard, AMD Semprom processor 2800+ on a socket 754. Also 512 kvr400x64c31 mb ram dimm.
I am almost sure all pins, cables are correct. seated ok etc.
I turn it on, the keyboard 3 lights up once. hd light stays light, no power light, however have checked those 3 times..
the power on button does power it on.. but the reset does not reset. The CD power light comes on.
The HD, does start up but I do not hear the normal bootup sequence.
I get nothing at all from the monitor
No beeps either.
The HD had an uptodate XP home edition working fine
I hope I have been informative enough..
Thanks in advance for everyones help.

Hi
No Beeps yet no power light and reset button does not work correctly... I'm inclined to think maybe you have the connections around the power on, reset, sound etc not connected correctly. Essentially check the sound connection and check the actual speaker is working (a quick flick across a 9v battery should give an audible click). If your speaker is working and connected correctly (the connections in that area can be awfully marked out) then it should be giving you an indication of a problem.
Also try a known good graphics card.
Something that's bugging at the back of my mind and I dont know why, but try booting with the keyboard disconnected... just try it, don't ask - I don't know why I'm saying it
If this fails, reduce your system down to the minimum number of components required to boot. And err... try again.
