hey guys.. new here...

ive just built a system:
ABIT A8V PRO
3100+ Sempron
WD 250gb SATA
Xpert Vision geforce 6600
generic 400w psu
generic cdrw

now, when i turn it on approximately 5 seconds later it just turns off
i have tried unplugging all devices and trying them in different combinations to find a faulty piece of hardware, but to no avail...
monitor does not come on, therefore i can not see any POST (not sure if it is even posting)

any help would be greatly appreciated

something overheating inside perhaps?
have you checked that nothing gets hot?

At first, i thaught it could be the CPU not plugged in properly, but if it comes on for 5 mins and goes off i dont know....

do you hear the hard drive spinning?

any bios beeps?

Just a quick search shows that boards CPU compatibility as:

Compatible Processors: Athlon 64, Athlon 64 FX

I see no support for Sempron.

If that is not the issue also check that your RAM is in the correct slots.
