No Audio Device but hardware and drivers are there.

    Hi,
First time I've come across this site and great job on all the help.

I have onboard audio that stopped working. Windows shows No Audio Device in Sound and Audio Devices. I've tried all the usual stuff; uninstall, reinstall, disabled and reenabled in the bios. Checked Windows audio services and made sure it was enabled. Downloaded latest WDM_A375 Realtek drivers. I added a PCI soundcard just to make sure it wasn't something wrong with the onboard sound. Drivers install just fine. I have only one error in Device Manager, which I do not believe is related. It is ATI WDM Rage Theater Video (Code 10) device cannot start. I've had this video card for years and have always had that error. No big deal.

Here is my hardware scan. Thanks to anyone who may be able to help.

What is the exact make and model of the computer?

You need to reload your audio drivers which will be available at the manufacturer's web site.

I cannot find that specific model but do see an Aspire 3000 laptop:

    http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/for...d=3394#results

Acer does not link direct results but you can plug in your details at the above link.

Perhaps try the Aspire 3000 XP Audio driver. Unless you can further match your model.

In my case. It was never solved. I lived with the problem for a few more months then I formatted and started all over. Now all is fine.

    >1. From Device Manager (be sure to select View/Show hidden devices), find the 'ISAPNP
    >Read Data Port' device from the System Devices list. (Of note: once I successfully
    >repaired this problem, this device no longer appears.)
    >2. Right click the ISAPNP device, and select "Update Driver"
    >3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
    >4. Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install."
    >5. The step I left out on prior trials: UNSELECT "Show Compatible Hardware"
    >6. Be sure that "(Standard System Devices)" is selected under Manufacturer.
    >7. Under Model, scroll down until you see "Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator".
    >Select this item, and select "Next>".
    >8. You will receive some frightening error message that you should probably disregard.
    >9. Complete the installation of the driver. You will see your device list magically
    >change before your eyes. The other PNP devices will mysteriously become enabled and
    >active. If not, restart.

I couldn't thank you enough for your input on "no audio device". I didn't really need to register on this site since I already fixed the problem but I figured it'd be worth it just to post my gratitude. Hold up.
