my computer was fine till one day it went to a blue screen saying windows is shutting down to protect you files ect. stuff like that so i restart it and its on a pintium 4 screen for about 3 min when it goes to a black screen saying "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device" ive tryed rebooting it many times but the same thing happens, if i press Ctrl+Alt+Delete on the "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device" screen it just reboots to the same thing whats going on here. i dont think ive done anyhting to cause this i would really like some help o and ive taken it to pc club and when i took it there it was pretty muh fine and i got it back and 4 hours later it happened again
so any help would be awesome

So at this point in time you are unable to boot into windows?
Sounds like a hardware booting issue.
When you took it to the club at least one thing you did was unplug it. Try that again.
Leave it unplugged for a bit. Are you familiar with opening the case?
What is the make & model of the computer & or motherboard?
-
well sometimes i can boot into windows like i would say 1 out of 6 times i can boot into windows (the other times it says "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device") but then a screen comes up and says boot windows in safe mode, last know good configuration, or start windows normally so say i choose last known good configuration windows will just reboot and go back to the same screen then if i turn it off it says "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device" also ive tryed unpluging it but only for a min or 2 but ill unplug it fo a coupple days and see what happens and i think the computers a whitehorse also i was thinking sometimes when i move the computer parts might move a little i dont no just an idea i havent opened the case that much but i think i would no what your talking about if you told me something to do

If you can get into windows run this little scan:
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
What is listed under System Model
Also what is under Main Circuit Board
-
o and what would a hardwear booting issue have to do with, like the hd or the cd-rw because i was thinking of buying cheep computer like an HP or something and putting my memmory in it and my sound and graphics card and my drivers in it but its just a tought
-
ok ill try that what does the scan do
-
Belarc scan just reports TO YOU what is in your computer: hardware & software.
At this point it is hard to say what's up. The fact that the computer is having problems finding the boot media/device is generally a BIOS level issue; e.g. motherboard; IDE cables & or connections; etc.
Are you familiar with reading your BIOS setup? i.e. do you know if the BIOS sees the hard drive?
-
ok thats fine um i could do some things with the hardwear but im not familiar at all with reading BIOS
-
If we know the make & model we can look up the manuals to help.
What happens when you power on the machine?
Do you see a Logo Screen? Or do you see data on a black screen?
This would be your BIOS POST (power on self test).
It counts your RAM & finds your drives among other things. If you see a Logo screen for your computer than this is going on "behind the screen".
There is usually a certain key to access these settings. Usually Delete or Esc or F2 ... depends on the machine. That's why we need to know what we're working with.

um yes i see now i used to see that but when that reformated it all i see is a pentium 4 screen and i see that untill it goes to the reboot bla bla bla screen and ill get that scan asap
