PC turns on w/ press of a button
When I shut down my PC, if I press any button on the keyboard, it turns on. The power buttons/switch on the PC tower broke off. Also, when I put my PC to sleep, it will wake up automatically in 15 seconds. Lastly, when I open up MY Computer, or any other file folders from the My Computer screen, an error message pops up saying "Internet Explorer Script Error". Whats going on?

Sigh, no one ever reads the sticky's;
"Also, when posting in the HARDWARE forum, please indicate your O/S (Operating System). This can make a difference in problem resolutions, and, the time it takes to get there"
Please indicate what O/S you are running.

Sorry. Im running Windows ME

Thank you.
For the script errors, see if this helps.
"The power buttons/switch on the PC tower broke off."
Is the switch usable?
ie; Is it just the front console button that's missing but you can still operate the actual switch behind the front bezel? I'm assuming this is an ATX type system. (Powers off via software commands as opposed to actually turning off the power switch.)
If so, and the actual power switch on the front of the machine is not jammed in, which I doubt, then the problem must lie in the bios settings, or in the O/S Power Management settings.
Check the bios settings such as "Wake on LAN", "Wake on Kbrd" or similar. In the same area will be the "sleep" or hibernation etc, settings. Check what these are currently set to.
I am not proficient with the M.E. O/S. I worked with it for three days, then the owner decided she wanted 98SE loaded instead. I haven't seen an M.E. system since. It's my understanding that it is (in loose terms) the hybrid to NTFS from FAT32. But the controls for these symptoms should be under Power Management in the O/S.
Post back with any results or information.

Yeah, I think my PC turns off through software commands, as I know from previous experience it uses an ATX power supply. Well, the problem is I am kind of computer illiterate. How do I get to the bios settings to check them? Also, how do i get to power management for the O/S? Thanks for the help.

Nothing is getting rid of those script errors when I access folders from the My Computer. Should I install the new DIrectX version?
-
The latest DirectX couldn't hurt.
For the bios access, usually when you first turn on your system, the bios access key will be listed on the bottom of the screen. ie; "Press Del for setup" or similar. (It could show up at the top of the screen as well.) If you don't see any such message, post back with your bios type. ie; Award, AMI (or AMIBIOS), Phoenix, etc. If you don't know what bios you have and it's a brand name system (Dell, Gateway, Compaq, IBM, etc) post the make and model number.

OK. How do I exit out of the bios system once Im through? Also, the script error message says that the "ActiveX" component cannot be installed. What should I do? INstall the latest ActiveX, if there is such a thing.
-
Esc usually takes you back a screen and eventually out to the bios exit screen. You'll have choices to Exit saving changes, Exit without saving, etc.
Hopefully ME will be structured the same as 98SE.
Start, Run, msinfo32. Go to Tools on the menu bar. There should(?) be a Internet Explorer Repair Tool. Try that.
What version of Internet Explorer (iexplore.exe) are you running?
