Laptop help needed
Hi all,
My laptop's screen is not showing the colours clearly. All the colours are distorted and varies each time I change the settings or turn the laptop on. Sometimes changing the screen size settings makes the picture better, sometimes worse. I asked the IT dept where I work to check it out but they don't know how to fix it. They thought it was a virus but even though a couple of virus' that were on their are now gone, it hasn't made a difference.
Can anyone offer any help or advice please? It's out of warranty now and I'm thinking it ain't gonna be cheap to sort out.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers.

What is the exact Make & Model of the laptop?

Do you realise that laptop screens generally only have ONE optimum display setting, which is normally the highest resolution that it can display? Anything other than the optimum display setting tends to be rather blurry, though I haven't heard of it significantly distorting colours unless the display settings have been reduced to 16-colour or 256-colour mode. When you set the display to the highest supported resolution and the highest number of colours, does it all look OK?
If you can get an external monitor plugged into the VGA output on the laptop, try that. If it's a good picture on the external monitor but a bad picture on the laptop, that will confirm whether you have a problem with the laptop's screen. If it's a bad picture on the external monitor as well, that suggests a problem with the graphics card or the settings.
If the problem points to a graphics card issue, try a driver update.
Hope that helps
